When I first came to Douglass.

I remember when i first came to Douglass, it was September of 2005. I was really nervous about going to this school because it was my very first year in a Chicago Public School. All my life, my mother always enrolled me in catholic schools. So after I graduated out of 8th grade from Saint Catherine School, my mother wanted me to go to a school near by in the neighborhood, so my mother sent me to Douglass. On the first day of my Freshman year, as i walked through those Douglass doors, I was so nervous. I was nervous because I have never been to a CPS school and i did not know anybody. As i went on to my classes, I was so shocked! I was shocked because kids were cursing out teachers, throwing books, noisy and alot more violence. I was use to silence during class and silence walking through the halls. I was use to peace and hardly no fighting or profanity. I am now a Senior here at F.A.Douglass and I have noticed the major difference in public and catholic schools. Since I have been here at Douglass, I have learned so much and I do enjoy being here. This school has taught me a life lesson. So tell all my teachers, friends and the whole Douglass family, thank you I learned and developed so much and that I will continue to strive to the top and be successful.
